In order to further strengthen its reproductive health
program, the Mission is directing activities towards
reducing Paraguay’s maternal mortality rate
through the provision of enhanced reproductive health
services and maternal health care.
Support to a maternal health program is underway in
Caaguazu Department.
The program concentrates
on strengthening provider’s and institution’s
ability to respond to obstetric emergencies that may
arise during pregnancy, delivery and post partum.
In addition, an effort is made to raise awareness
among pregnant women, their families and their communities
of risk indicators as well as to organize the community
to respond to the emergencies through an emergency
plan.
