USAID/Paraguay is focusing on expanding the access
and improving the quality of reproductive health
services among rural and low-income women in four
areas:
Technical assistance is provided to support a promoter
system to increase the demand of reproductive health services,
to improve the technical skills of health providers. Support
is also provided to the Central Ministry of Health in
the definition of National Policies and Norms. With USAID
support, the country has developed a National Reproductive
Health Plan (2003-2008) and is updating the family planning
norms.
Under this component, USAID is also supporting the institutional
strengthening of a local NGO, CEPEP to provide high quality
services to low and middle income people. CEPEP has also
worked with CDC in producing the Demographic and Health
Survey an official source of information for Paraguayan
and international institutions.
